British LCD TV company, Cello Electronics, has launched the UK’s first Personal Video Recorder (PVR) Freeview TV that records onto SD cards rather than a built-in hard drive.
The TV’s revolutionary SD card functionality means consumers can now make unlimited recordings, keep their favourite programmes without taking up valuable storage space on a hard drive, play their programmes on computers and different TVs with the same PVR SD card feature and create backups of their favourites.
It also spells the end of noisy built-in hardrives that often have complicated timers and limited storage space. Instead, everything can be controlled via the easy-to-use remote control, which enables simple one touch recording via the Electronic Programming Guide (EPG). What’s more, consumers can now store complete programme series on their SD cards and simply invest in new cards when space begins to run out.
Complete with two tuners and SD slots to enable the recording of two channels at once, the HD ready TV also has a unique split screen functionality, so that two channels can be viewed at once. The 26” and 32” models both contain two HDMI sockets, whilst the 22” model has one.
Also containing an integrated DVD player, the TV – which is available in 22 “, 26” and 32” size options – will be manufactured by Cello Electronics and available under the following brands from these retailers from July this year:
• Cello - available from Studio and Ace catalogues
• Soundwave – available from Freemans and Grattan catalogues
Later in the year this PVR technology will also be available from major retailers, including Littlewoods Direct under the Murphy brand and Marks & Spencer under its own brand.
The 26” version will be priced from £399.99, with the 32” costing from £450.
Cello Electronics is a leading manufacture of cutting-edge, affordable LCD TVs. Based in the north of England and boasting a turnover of £35m, Cello invests heavily in R&D meaning it is able to bring new technology to the market place quickly and cost effectively. It also operates one of the best after-sales services in the industry, through associate company Contrast Technology.
As well as selling its own brand products via retailers including Comet, Netto, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and J D Williams, Cello also owns an additional brand, Neon, which is sold exclusively through Morrisons Supermarkets. In addition, the company also manufactures own brand products for the likes of Marks & Spencer, Littlewoods, Grattan and Next.
